Dogwood - MahoningGäó:

Dogwood - Mahoning™, Cornus racemosa 'Mahzam', is a suckering shrub with a distinctly multi-stemmed habit with branching that is upright and erect. Its shape is an irregular, broad-spreading clump that grows 10' to 15' tall with an equal spread. It has small, creamy white flowers, held in 2" diameter clusters, that bloom early spring to mid-June. The flowers are not extremely showy, but numerous. This deciduous Mahoning Dogwood plant can become a bit leggy with age. In the summer the leaf color is a dull gray-green, but in the fall it develops a rich, reddish purple with full sun exposure. It is tolerant of sun or shade and can withstand dry or wet soils, therefore, Mahoning is very adaptable. Use as a border, hedge, difficult growing site, naturalistic area, soil stabilization, or for wildlife food and shelter.
